The question I hear most from people relocating to Prescott isn't about price or square footage. It's "Where should we live?"

Prescott is a small town, but every corner has a very different feel. You can be walking to dinner downtown, tucked into the pines, out on acreage with mountain views, or in a gated golf community, all within about 20 minutes of each other.

I grew up here, so I know these neighborhoods the way locals do: who built them, how they've aged, and what daily life actually looks like there. Here are five my relocation clients keep coming back to.

American Ranch

American Ranch makes an impression the moment you drive through the gates. It's a gated community of custom homes on lots that start at about one acre and go up to five, with equestrian options and wide-open views. If you want privacy and space while still being part of a neighborhood, this is a great place to start.

Talking Rock

Talking Rock is Prescott's well-known guard-gated golf community, a little north of town off Williamson Valley Road. You'll find custom homes and lower-maintenance golf cottages, a beautiful clubhouse, and big mountain views. Many residents say it feels like a private retreat.

Forest Trails

If you want to be close to downtown Prescott and still surrounded by tall pines, Forest Trails is one of the best options. Lots are larger, the landscaping is mature, and you can choose between a private wooded lot or a view lot.

Granite Dells Estates

Granite Dells Estates is a master-planned community with new construction from several builders, a state-of-the-art community center, and views of the famous Granite Dells. It offers a wide range of home styles and sizes, and no golf membership is required.

Hidden Hills

Off Pioneer Parkway, Hidden Hills sits between views of the Dells and Granite Mountain. It's newer construction, many homes have RV garages, and you're minutes from both town and some of Prescott's most popular trails.

How to choose

The right neighborhood depends on how you want to live. Do you want golf mornings or total privacy? A short drive to the Courthouse Square, or a little more land? New construction, or a home with mature trees and character?

I always recommend choosing the area before choosing the house. Once we know the neighborhoods that fit, the home search gets much easier. My neighborhood quiz is a great place to start.
